According to latest report, it has come to light that Mumbai has received the heaviest pre-monsoon showers of the season on Friday night, June 10, with the southern part of the city receiving moderate to heavy rainfall.

Areas of South Mumbai received moderate to heavy rain on Friday night. This was coupled with lightning and continued as is till early on Saturday. IMD’s Colaba observatory in South Mumbai recorded 61.8 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Saturday.

The weather department predicted generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or thundershowers in city and suburbs for 24 hours with the possibility of occasional intense spell. The department has further predicted that Mumbai will cool down more in the next one or two days.

Meanwhile, as per a seven-day forecast, Mumbai will receive thundershowers starting in the evenings till June 14. Besides, rain intensity may subside to some extent between June 13 and 17. Thereafter, intensity of rain will pick up and there may be few heavy spells June 18 onwards.

Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced the arrival of the southwest monsoon in Mumbai and other nearby areas on June 11. However, from June 12, no rainfall has been witnessed across the city, owing to which there is an increase in the humidity level at 71 per cent today, June 13.

On Monday, June 13, IMD’s Santacruz observatory recorded the maximum and minimum temperature at 32.9 degrees Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius respectively. Whereas, IMD’s Colaba observatory recorded the maximum and minimum temperature at 31 degrees Celsius and 24.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

The temperature in the city has already dropped from 35 degrees Celsius a few days ago to 31-32 degrees.
