To meet the needs of the growing population, the environmental fluctuation is growing on a large scale.

According to a report, out of 86 lakes in Mumbai, there are only 20 in the picture currently and eight have absolutely vanished.

In fact, Mumbai's NGO Watchdog Foundation had studied the DP Plan a few days ago. When this NGO found out about the lake's situation, they were not convinced. They asked the BMC for additional information.

The NGO Watchdog Foundation member Godfrey Pimenta says that the report by BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board was quite shocking. According to the report, only 20 lakes are in existence in Mumbai, out of which eight have been destroyed.

Talking to Mumbai Live, Pimenta further says that lakes have been lost due to encroachment and they need to be revived as soon as possible.

Stalin Dayanand, director of the Vanashakti Project, initiated protection of Aarey, says that there were plenty of lakes in Mumbai but now the number of lakes have decreased considerably.

As the population is increasing, the needs of the people are also increasing. Enlarged on the big scale, lakes have been encroached upon. Let’s hope the concrete jungle doesn’t replace nature in general.
