Mumbai: IMD predicts heavy rainfall for the next 5 days

A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Amravati along with some districts of Marathwada and Vidarbha

The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of heavy rain in Mumbai for the next four days. Mumbai was lashed by heavy rain since early morning on Friday. But on Saturday and Sunday, the rain took a break again. Since Monday morning, the rain has picked up a little.


Due to the formation of a low pressure belt in the Bay of Bengal, a cyclical wind condition has been created. Therefore, there is a possibility that the intensity of rain will increase in the state for the next five days. Similarly, heavy rain is also predicted in Mumbai for the next four days.

Heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in some areas including Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and orange alert has been issued for some districts including Pune. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Konkan on Tuesday, Wednesday. Orange alert has been given to Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Palghar, Satara districts.


A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Amravati along with some districts of Marathwada and Vidarbha.


"Monsoon is likely to remain active for the next 4-5 days, heavy to very heavy rains will occur in some parts of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. For the first time in the season, there is a warning of heavy rains in Marathwada. Heavy rains are likely in some parts of Konkan and Vidarbha, heavy rains may occur in Chandrapur," Krishnanand Hosalikar, Additional Director, Pune Center, Meteorological Department has said.
