On Monday, December 7, the minimum temperature across Mumbai further witnessed a decline with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Santacruz observatory recording a minimum temperature of 17.8 degree Celsius, which happens to be the lowest this season.

For the last couple of days, the minimum temperature has been on a decline. Monday’s minimum temperature was marginally lower than Sunday's 18 degree Celsius and Saturday's 18.4 degree Celsius. Moreover, Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 22.4C. On the other hand, the maximum temperatures were recorded at 34.8 degree Celsius.

Back in 2019, Mumbai had recorded 25.3 degrees Celsius on December 5, equaling the minimum temperature recorded on December 2, 2013, both are currently the highest in 10 years. On December 1, 2008, Mumbai had recorded 25.2 degrees Celsius. In other years, between 2009 and 2018, the highest minimum temperature ranged between 20.8 degrees Celsius and 23.6 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, December 1, the air quality index (AQI) entered the moderate category which is 118 after two days of satisfactory air quality. As per reports, Worli had the cleanest air in the city at 76. Moreover, according to experts, even though the temperatures had increased, dust carried by easterly winds combined with calm winds had led to a marginal rise in pollution.

The AQI values at or below 100 are generally thought of as satisfactory. However, when AQI values are above 100, air quality is unhealthy. From 201 to 300, the air is judged to be very unhealthy; children, asthmatics and people with heart or lung conditions should avoid the outdoors and all others should reduce their outdoors exertion. On the other hand, when the AQI exceeds 300, it is “hazardous” for everyone to venture outdoors.
