Mumbai witnessed a rainfall deficit in August, with the city recording significantly less rain compared with the previous month. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall in Mumbai and parts of the Konkan region over the next few days.
While July brought heavy rainfall to the city, rain activity declined considerably in August. The reduced rainfall has resulted in a noticeable deficit for the month, with weather conditions remaining largely humid and cloudy.
According to the IMD forecast, parts of North Konkan, including Mumbai, are likely to receive rainfall until September 4. However, no major spell of heavy rain is expected during this period.
Weather officials have indicated that rainfall activity may remain subdued as the monsoon enters its final phase. Mumbai is therefore likely to experience intermittent showers rather than prolonged periods of heavy rainfall in the coming days.
The changing rainfall pattern has also highlighted the uneven distribution of monsoon rainfall across the region, with some areas receiving heavy showers while others have recorded below-normal precipitation.
