On Monday, February 8, the people in Mumbai woke up to a chilly first day of the week at 18 degrees Celsius as the city continues to experience the wintry weather.

However, earlier on Sunday, February 7, Mumbaikars woke up to warmer weather conditions as minimum temperatures saw a sharp increase. Moreover, the Santacruz observatory of India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum of 22C, a spike from Saturday’s 16.9C. Colaba’s minimum temperature, too, rose from 19.8C on Saturday to 22.2C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rise in temperatures resulted in the air clearing up. According to SAFAR, Mumbai’s overall AQI was 173. An AQI between 101-200 is considered moderate and doesn’t pose any health problems to the general public. However, the AQI on Saturday was 207.

On the other hand, KS Hosalikar, Mumbai chief of IMD, shared a picture of windsock mounted atop a fuel storage tank and wrote that the temperature has gone down since yesterday. Hosalikar further stated that on Sunday the temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celcius while it’s colder in the morning. “With temp going down from yesterday's 22°C to today's morning 18°C, it’s a pleasant morning in the Mumbai city,” he wrote. Moreover, he predicted the temperature to soar in the upcoming days.

Furthermore, the IMD Mumbai Chief also noted the temperature of Pune which has finally gone down to a single digit. As per reports, on Monday, Pune clocked a temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius whereas Satara’s temperature is 14 degrees Celcius. In addition, Baramati has recorded 10.1 degrees Celsius.
