Pune reported 195 new COVID-19 cases, 224 recoveries and two deaths on Friday, February 5, taking the total number of cases up to 1,92,802. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 1,492 active cases while 1,86,536 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is at 4,774.

As many as 3,357 tests were conducted taking the total count to 10,44,422.

On Friday, February 5, Maharashtra recorded 2,628 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,38,630. Currently, there are 33,936 active cases in the state. With 3,513 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,52,187.

More than 40 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,255. While 1,77,560 persons are under home quarantine, 2,025 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.76 per cent, and 2.51 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 11,713 new cases, 14,488 recoveries and 95 deaths taking the tally up to 1,08,14,304 on Friday, February 5. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,05,10,796 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,54,918 in the country. At present, there are 1,48,590 active cases. According to the ICMR, 20,06,72,589 samples have been tested up to February 5. So far, 54,16,849 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
