Mumbaikars woke up to a cloudy morning on Thursday, April 21, which was followed by light showers. The city was reeling under the ramifications of intense heat for the past few weeks and has finally attained some relief from it. 

Head India Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune, K S Hosalikar took to Twitter saying, "Nowcast warning at 0700Hrs 21/04: Thunderstorrms with lightning & light to moderate spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at isol places in districts of Palghar, Nasik, Dhule, Nandurbar next 3-4hrs. Take precautions while moving out. -IMD MUMBAI."

In addition to this, he also mentioned that the minimum temperature in Colaba was 26.5 °C, while Santacruz was 26.1 °C and trace rainfall was witnessed at both locations. 

According to the latest reports, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that certain locations in Maharashtra are likely to receive light rainfall till Saturday, April 23. 

On the other hand, citizens took to Twitter to share their reactions to the sudden Mumbai rains

In other developments, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal directed that the pre-monsoon nullah cleaning work is done in two shifts to ensure that the work is completed on time.
