According to the latest reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is looking to build a treehouse in Mumbai's Bandra west that will offer visitors a view of the Arabian Sea. The treehouse is anticipated to resemble a tower that will be built by duplicating the model of a two-storeyed house.

Based on accounts, the tower will be built near the Bandra Fort and the design will be on similar lines of the "Old Woman's Shoe viewing tower" that is located at Malabar Hill's Kamala Nehru Park. Senior BMC officials have been quoted in narratives elaborating on how the treehouse's height will be similar to that of a two-storeyed building.

Adding that it will be made with wood with limited use of cement for making the structure's foundation. It has been reported that the civic body will table the INR 1 crore proposal in the standing committee to appoint a consultant for the said project this week, highlighted reports.

In accordance with the proposal, the contractor will be given the responsibility to check the soil's quality and curate the preliminary design draft. A senior official reportedly elucidated on how the treehouse will be made near the seashore thus checking the soil quality will be of significance, cited narratives.

The senior official added that based on the contractor's report, a preliminary design will be made for the final construction. This is believed to be the first such treehouse in the suburbs, claimed accounts.

It is anticipated that after garnering the public's attention, similar such treehouses will be made in other parts of the suburbs. The District Planning Development Committee (DPDC) will be funding the scheme and the civic body will act as the executing and maintenance agency, stated reports.
