The new open space is designed in the theme of Maratha architecture, and has several arches and brickwork harking back to that period. The open space spans across about 1,400 sq m.
“We have also constructed a small pond. In the next phase, we will beautify the remaining portion of the precinct around Tardevi and Maruti temple and realign the junction for better traffic and pedestrian flow,” Prashant Gaikwad, assistant municipal commissioner D Ward was quoted as saying by TOI.

According to reports, the project took 10 months to complete and the cost of it is close to INR 1 crores.
It is a part of BMC’s bid to beautify the Tardevi and Maruti temple precinct, which lends its name to the locality.
Most residents are unaware that a shrine dedicated to Taad Dev and Taad Devi (his consort) survives to date on the traffic circle opposite the erstwhile Ganga Jamna theatre, said local historian.
