Temperatures have risen sharply in and around Mumbai, and over the last few days, Mumbaikars have been experiencing a mix - cloudy weather in the morning, heat n the afternoon and fairly pleasant weather in the evening. However, Mumbai city and suburbs witnessed an increase in the temperature on Thursday, October 8, 2020, and the condition continued on Friday, where Mumbai began feeling the effects of the 'October heat'.

Data released by the Indian Meteorological Department states that the city was expected to experience monsoon, as it was scheduled to return on October 8, 2020. However, the weather is constantly changing and the forecast states the presence of clouds near the North Arabian Sea, which could benefit parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Reports state that some part of the city witnessed light showers in the morning on Thursday

A low-pressure area is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal on October 9, and hence, the rainfall was predicted in the interior areas of Maharashtra, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, and Vidarbha. The same is said to increase from October 10 and may continue for the next six to seven days.

Skymet in its forecast blog mentioned, "A low-pressure area is forming over the North Andaman Sea within next 48 hours and rapidly intensifying to a depression over the East Central Bay of Bengal in the subsequent 24 hours. The weather system will move west-northwest and reach North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha Coast in the early hours of 11th October and later move across Telangana and Maharashtra."

The depression may weaken to a well-marked low pressure after crossing the coast and later reduce to just a cyclonic circulation over North Maharashtra. The peripheral reach of the system will affect Madhya Pradesh, North Karnataka and Gujarat. One week life cycle of this system will impact central and South India (Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka)," the team added.
