The QR code has been placed on the trees so that the citizens can easily get information about the trees in the parks in the Thane municipal area. After scanning this code on the mobile phone, information about the tree will be available to the citizens in two languages, Marathi and English.

As per the directives of Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, the Parks Department and the Tree Authority are trying to make municipal parks more citizen friendly. Accordingly, nature libraries have been started in some parks under the 'Chala Vachuya' campaign. They are getting enthusiastic responses from citizens. Deputy Commissioner Sancheti informed that now the initiative of putting this QR code has been taken up in the same series.

After registering each tree, these QR codes have been prepared accordingly. In this way the information of about 2000 trees has been collected. These more than 2000 trees have been tied with nylon rope while applying these QR codes. Sancheti also explained that care has been taken to ensure that no harm is done to the trees.
