In the first two weeks of July, Mumbai and its suburbs experienced a good amount of rainfall. Due to heavy rains, the city enjoyed a pleasant and comfortable weather for a while. Since then, rain activities witnessed a decline in the city and the weather had turned sultry and humid. However, in the last 24 hours, moderate to light showers finally occurred over Mumbai and its suburbs. The observatory at Santacruz recorded 10 mm of rainfall and Colaba recorded 24 mm of rainfall.

According to the data provided by a weather forecasting body Skymet, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over the East Central Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast. The moderate winds from the Arabian Sea are also feeding moisture over the areas of Konkan and Goa. The data suggests that this weather system will ensure that Mumbai and its suburbs experience on and off rains for the next week.

As per the data, the rain activities in the city are expected to increase around the 2nd or 3rd of August. Skymet further stated that although the patchy rain showers will not allow the temperatures to rise much, the weather will still turn sultry and slightly uncomfortable for a while.

However, the month of August may commence with a rainy note for Mumbai and its suburbs. This may lead to a drop in the overall temperature and the weather is expected to become more pleasant and comfortable for Mumbaikars.
