With rain and thunderstorms withdrawing from Mumbai, it has been reported that there is a slight rise in the pollution levels registered on Thursday, November 25. The Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded during the day was 145.

In the last week, the AQI was below 100 which means it was in the satisfactory or good segment according to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) division. Since November 1, a steady increase in Mumbai's pollution levels was reported.

The worst air quality of the season in Mumbai which was 280 was reported on November 16. The "poor" category is one where the air quality falls between 201 and 300. Based on the 24-hour prediction declared by SAFAR, for the coming two days, Mumbai's air quality could possibly be in the "moderate" section.

AQI is a mean of pollutants as one value, thus, the higher the AQI, the higher the level of air pollution which has detrimental effects on one's health. SAFAR records the AQI by amalgamating air quality and weather predictions.

Apart from this, for the second straight day, high relative humidity was recorded in Mumbai. Based on the forecast made by the IMD Santacruz observatory, on Thursday morning, the city's humidity was at 81 per cent. By the evening, it was 48 per cent.

Additionally, day and night temperatures continued to be over the normal level. According to a two-day forecast for Mumbai, a clear sky is anticipated.
