It has come to light that many parts of the state are witnessing deaths due to heat waves. However, the IMD has warned that Vidarbha will continue to experience heat waves in the next few days.

In what comes as a concerning news, Maharashtra's Akola district in the Vidarbha region on Tuesday, April 5, recorded the world’s highest temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius, claiming the top spot in the world among the 15 hottest places.

According to a survey weather monitoring website, out of the 15 hottest places in the world in the past 24 hours ending, four were in India.

However, of those in India, three districts in Maharashtra (Akola, Jalgaon and Wardha) were among the top 10 hottest places in the country on Tuesday, April 5. While Akola and Jalgaon were in the top two positions, Wardha ranked 9th with a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius.

Moreover, days after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced heatwave across Maharashtra, it has come to light that many parts of the state are witnessing deaths due to heat waves. However, the IMD has warned that Vidarbha will continue to experience heat waves in the next few days. 

According to reports by Indian Express, four people have succumbed to heat strokes – two in Jalgaon and one each in Akola and Osamanabad – in the last six days as on Tuesday, April 5.

Besides, on Wednesday, April 6, IMD Mumbai’s Colaba and Santacruz observatory, which represents the suburbs, recorded a temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius.
