Navy Day celebrations

Mumbai- The Indian Navy observes 4th December as a ‘Navy Day’ to honour the glorious victory of the Indian Navy and to salute the courageous heroes who brought the country this moment of pride. As a part of Navy Day celebrations encompass was conducted on Sunday at Gateway of India by the Indian Navy's Western Naval Command. The ceremony was witnessed by a large number of people and families of Navy officers. The ceremony of ‘Beating Retreat’ took place which now has become an integral part of the military traditions of India. On this occasion Continuity Drill was also performed by the ‘Nauveers’ of Western Naval Command which was spectacular and mesmerising, as the entire drill sequence was executed without a single word of command. After the mesmerising performance by ‘Nauveers’, Naval aviators with their flying machines showed a skillful performance where the special heliborne operations were undertaken by Chetak and Seaking. Meanwhile, the young cadets of Sea Cadet Corps performed a Hornpipe Dance which is a fitness regime for seafarers in the confines of their decks. In the run up to Navy Day, various celebrations were conducted in the City of Mumbai and other Naval Stations.
