Industries Minister Uday Samant said that for the first time in the state, a Pro-Govinda tournament on the lines of Pro-Kabaddi will be organised at Worli indoor stadium on August 31 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Minister Uday Samant said that the Pro-Govinda competition will be organised as per the guidance and instructions of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and the Govinda team has been given insurance cover for Govinda's safety.


For this, 50,000 Govindas have been insured across the state and 3,500 Govindas from 20 Govinda teams in Mumbai will get the benefit of insurance. Instructions have been given to the Dahi Handi Coordination Committee to prevent accidents and accordingly the committee will prepare the rules. Every competitor will be taken care of as per rules and helmet has been made mandatory for all. He also informed that mats will be used on the lines of Olympics in the indoor stadium and INR 10 lakh will be given by the government in case of Govinda's death or disability.

Programs and competitions of Govinda athletes will be organised throughout the year and dahihandi has been given the status of a sport. The height of the indoor stadium in the Worli area is 40 feet, so the competition was held there, Minister Uday Samant said.


A total of 16 teams will participate in the Pro-Govinda tournament and the first prize is INR 11 lakh, second prize INR 7 lakh, third prize INR 5 lakh and fourth prize INR 3 lakh. Along with this, the women's team and the Blind Govinda team will also be given a prize of one lakh for their participation.
