As the annual Mount Mary fair, also known as Bandra Fair, begun on Sunday, September 11, thousands of people thronged the Mount Mary’s Basilica in Bandra on the first day of the festival.

However, this year’s fair is expected to see a huge turnout as it has returned after a hiatus of two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, a joint task force of the Anti-Terror Cells (ATCs) from eight police stations will keep a watch the fair.
According to the Bandra police, ATC personnel from each police station from Bandra to Andheri -- designated as Zone IX for policing purposes -- have been roped in to ensure that the highly anticipated event from September 11 to 18 goes through without a hitch.
Apart from terror and law and order, the police are also ensuring that fire safety is not compromised and traffic flow is smooth.
Moreover, the Mumbai police issued a traffic advisory and placed restrictions around the Mound Mary Church in the Bandra West region. The restrictions will be enforced between 6 am and 11 pm until the final day of the fest, which concludes on September 18.
The traffic police also prohibited parking any type of vehicle on Mount Mary Road, Pereira Road, Kane Road, Hill Road (Between its junction with St. Paul's Road and Mehboob Studio junction), Mount Carmel Road, Chapel Road, John Baptist Road, St Sebastian Road, Rebello Road, Dr Peter Dias Road and St. Paul Road. However, a quick halt for picking up or getting down will be allowed.
Major restrictions:
Mount Mary Road will be closed for all types of vehicles except vehicles of local residents who will be issued car passes by the police.
- Kane Road shall be 'One Way' for all types of vehicles from its junction with Mount Mary Road to its junction with B. J. Road except vehicles of local residents issued with passes i.e 'No Entry' from B.J. Road.
- Pareira Road will be one way from East to West i.e. 'No Entry' from B.J. Road
- St. John Baptista Road shall be closed for all vehicular traffic except for local residents who will be issued with special passes.
