Borivali- In the year 1991, post office employees went on strike. However, when they returned back, they were not entertained in the Borivali’s chief Post Office. They gathered in a ground nearby Ambamata temple. Amongst one of them, was Vasant Ghadshi who came up with a brilliant idea for the welfare of the employees. He started ‘Kamgar Kalyan Fund’ for the employees which gave the financial aid to the employees in tough times. Strike ended but the Kamgaar Fund did not. Started from a scratch, this fund completed 25 years this October. During its silver jubilee programme, post master Balkrushna Ajrekar, Jayprakash Singh, Ravi Ambekar, R. P. Singh, senior reporter Vijay Vaidya and Yogesh Vasant Trivedi gave the 2.5 gram gold coins to all employees.
