One of Maharashtra's prominent festivals, Dahi Handi will soon engulf the entire state as the human pyramids, Govinda groups will be seen breaking matkis on the streets of Mumbai. In order to ensure that the festival is pompously celebrated, Maharashtra Sports Minister Ashish Shelar directed the authorities to make the process to seek permission for the Govinda groups easier.
Shelar, who is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, asked the authorities to make the process more lenient to assist the organisers during a review meeting that was recently held.

Alongside, this year, the court has put up some guidelines to ensure the safety of the Govindas throughout the festival.

Meanwhile, Shelar has welcomed the safety norms set by the coordination committee and has accordingly requested the concerned authorities to coordinate with the organisers to ensure smooth functioning. He also asked the police and the ambulances to stay alert in case of any untoward incidents.
