Handcrafted single malt scotch whisky from the house of William Grant & Sons, The Balvenie hosted an exclusive whisky tasting at the first-of-its-kind Vault Spirits Biennale. Hosted at the architectural marvel, Tote on the Turf, The Balvenie tasting delighted visitors through interesting stories of the five rare crafts that resonate with the centuries old craftsmanship and are at the heart of this single malt scotch whisky.

The whisky tasting was even more special as it marked the 110th year of William Grant & Sons’ presence in India. Charles Gordon, the son-in-law of William Grant, the founder of William Grant & Sons, first came to India in the year 1909 and marked the start of selling whiskies in India from William Grants.

The Balvenie is defined by a rich, honeyed sweetness, and is one of Scotland’s few family-owned Speyside distilleries, and one of Scotland’s last truly handcrafted malt whiskies. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, malts it on traditional floor malting and has its own cooperage, its own coppersmith, and the longest-serving Malt Master in the Scotch whisky industry, the celebrated David Stewart.

Speaking on the occasion, James Pennefather, Managing Director, William Grant & Sons India, said

The Balvenie is truly unique among single malts, dedicated to maintaining the legacy of its five rare crafts. Through such collaborations and tastings, we try to bring to life the story of craftsmanship that is still alive and practiced daily at our distillery. I hope that our guests cherished the occasion and carried back memories of this most unique of single malt whiskies.”
