If one had to give a hashtag for Mumbai, it would be #hustle as the city keeps everyone on toes. Touted as one of the hotspots in the country, Mumbai is radically different from others. The city boasts of many areas and pockets which have now been established as popular zones for the youth and one such neighbourhood is Powai.

The popular locality with 'europe-like infrastructure' is known for wide and well-maintained roads, landscaped gardens, natural green cover, and a lot more. And adding to the charm is the new 'social' which, with its new address becomes a part of Mumbai's Silicon Valley. After establishing 10 neighbourhood hotspots in the city, POWAI SOCIAL has scored a sweet new spot in Hiranandani Gardens, and embodies the synergy of the self-sustaining area it resides in: the big Bombay dream come true, a world of its own, a thriving community.

This side of the city is known for Powai and epitomises work-life balance. Keeping the same in mind, Powai's Social focuses on offering the ‘work x play’ ethos. The symmetrical architecture of this new outlet is symbolic of the area’s thriving eco-system, balance in all things is key, and has been designed keeping the udyaans (parks) in the city, thereby offering a different experience.

Talking about the same, Riyaaz Amlani, CEO & MD, Impresario Handmade Restaurants, said, “We’re thrilled to open the doors to SOCIAL’s 24th outpost in the country. In the past 5 years, SOCIAL has become the fulcrum around which all kinds of human interactions happen. We love that our spaces create collisions, connections, and serendipities between individuals and communities. Our goal is to become as relevant to the hyperlocal community we reside in as the individual who comes to us. And coming to Powai is like coming home. The neighbourhood takes pride in its sense of community and conscientious living – both of these are values we hold dear at Impresario.”

Sharing her thought about the design, Shabnam Gupta, principal designer of The Orange Lane, the design studio behind the interiors, said, "The general mood of the space juxtaposes urban and natural elements in interesting ways, staying true to SOCIAL’s ‘minimal intervention, maximum upcycling’ design style. We employed the use of vernacular architecture to stay as natural in our approach to the space. Powai SOCIAL features earthy tones of red, paired with concrete that emerges out of the ground and morphs into in-situ seating. This organic approach still retains the playfulness that SOCIAL is known for through quirky elements that we’ve seamlessly interwoven.”

The elements in the restaurant are chosen keeping the city's aspects in mind. The benches are dedicated to crucial moments in the history of Mumbai that are now kept alive in memory. Each bench in the city represents one event and that makes it special for Mumbaikars. One bench is dedicated to the textile mills of Mumbai, another  to the now defunct RK Studios, and one more to Bajirao the last white tiger. Besides this, the seating is also made from erstwhile car tyres along with logwood tabletops, which helps it natural shape and form. One would also be intrigued by the bamboo sticks installations, cloud-like floating lamps, tropical green hanging plants, which make this outlet quite different from the other 'Social' hotspots in the city. Hand-painted murals displayed inside are  made using non-toxic paint and add the sustainable factor as well.

The menu in this outlet is also similar to others, and offers extensive range of cocktails, mocktails and food. Besides this, the team has also curated a mind-blowing collection of keg cocktails, aptly called #khatra which is served first in Powai Social. For the unaware these giant-sized kegs serve 4 litres of artfully blended cocktails and include a full bottle of liquor in a steel-encased keg.

The makers ensure that with the arrival of Powai Social, the team would eagerly offer the local community the aspirations of balancing quality of life with a quality space where one can chill with friends over great coffee and food, meet like-minded collaborators for work, or party at some of the best gigs in town., with an aim to restore symmetry!
