Talk about desi food, and most of us will instantly show our liking towards Punjabi cuisine. Just like the people and culture of Punjab, their food is diverse and rich. However, while some chefs have aced the art of service Punjabi food, some of them have also added their twist to the existing popular dishes. Mastering both and serving something special yet authentic is MasterChef Ripu Daman Handa's new venture, Ulta Tawa.

With the selection of dishes on the menu, he has proved yet again that a skilled MasterChef cannot go wrong. Ulta Tawa has gained popularity in Andheri and largely offers take away and home delivery services.

The menu has been specially designed by MasterChef winner to ensure that lovers of Punjabi food are not disappointed. Moreover, the popular chef also pushes the envelope with some of his curated twists; all of which are delivered in very sufficient quantity, at an affordable price.

Their tagline 'North ka Asli Tadka' fits perfectly with their ethos and delivery, as what came out of the kitchen was pure Delhi Style Food in every way. Tucked amid the cozy bylanes of Versova in Andheri West, this place is a hidden gem. Despite the focus on delivery, the team has ensured their offer seating for around 8-12 people who prefer to eat at the outlet and must say their service is up to the mark.

Tasting something prepared straight from the Kitchen of a MasterChef is always exciting. The menu offers a good number of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, as almost every dish has two variants, serving the respective tastebuds, at a nominal price.

First served on my table were Tandoori Momos, and this dish blew my mind away. I have tasted momos all my life, but never tasted anything as delicious as this. Recommended by the MasterChef himself, this is a must-have from the menu. No wonder, it is their bestseller. Soya Chaap Platter followed then, which were served in 3 variants - Afghani, Chatpata and Tandoori Soya Chaaps – all equally good in portions. High on protein, this preparation was soft, tender and full of flavor and my favourite being Chatpata.

By now, I was almost full. Thanks to the quantity of the starters, which is sufficient for two to three people. The main course was next to be served. Smoked Paneer Biryani, Dal Makhni, and Rajma Masala made their way to the table. I’m obsessed about biryani and this one pleased my heart. It was fulfilling with a tangy paneer gravy layered below the rice. Rajma Masala and Dal Makhni were rich and tasted best when served with hot bread.

The best part about all the dishes was the quantity served for the price charged. It’s paisa vasool. Food and service will definitely make you order again from this tiny, yet an interesting take away joint!

For the ones not in Versova, just wish that they soon deliver, or open another branch near yours at the earliest.
