The number of coronavirus cases has increased in urban and rural areas of Thane district. As of August 26, a total of 1,26,042 coronavirus cases have been reported from the district. Of these cases, nearly 1,02,374 patients have recovered from COVID-19. 

Currently, the number of active cases in Thane district is 20,021 while the fatalities have risen to 3,646. The active cases in Thane district are more when compared to Mumbai. The number of active coronavirus cases in Mumbai stands at 18,979. 

The local administration has informed that the coronavirus cases are under control in Thane city now. The most coronavirus cases in the city were being reported from Naupada, Ghodbunder area. However, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has managed to control the spread of the coronavirus. 

In the view of a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases, the lockdown was imposed in Thane district in July. The administration has been paying attention to curb the sharp rise in coronavirus cases. 

In the last 15 days, the rate of coronavirus outbreak in Thane district has deceased. Earlier, nearly 1,500 fresh cases were being reported from the district but the number has come down to 700-800. 

Meanwhile, The number of novel coronavirus cases from Andheri to Dahisar have been increasing constantly. According to the data issued by the BMC, a total of 8,209 COVID-19 cases have been reported from Malad till August 25 and 7,507 people have fallen victim to coronavirus in Borivali.
