In view of the third possible wave of the coronavirus, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has conducted 2,18,000 COVID-19 tests in the month of July.

According to sources, these include 1,63,000 antigen tests and 52,910 RT-PCR tests. Moreover, the civic body is testing about 8,000 citizens a day. In addition, at least 2,000 tests are being conducted in all five markets of the crowded APMC area. Apart from conducting webinars, the civic body is also reportedly reviewing the situation on a daily basis.

On the other hand, the state government had earlier asked all the civic bodies in Maharashtra to make necessary arrangements before the cases rise in the state. Acting upon the same, officials from the NNMC recently decided to implement a new idea to manage the spread of COVID-19 before the third wave. As per reports, this will not only contain the spread but also assist the teams in offering treatment on time.

The health department at the NMMC recently started monitoring every housing society under the new plan, whereby even if one patient in a housing society is infected with the coronavirus, all the occupants of that building are being tested for the infection. Focusing on the targeted testing method, officials have informed that it would possible to avoid the possibility of COVID patients coming in contact with each other.
