The state government of Maharashtra and the respective civic bodies have been carrying out the vaccination drive across the state, with an aim to control the coronavirus infection.  So far, thousands of healthcare workers have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 infection and taking the next step in the drive, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to increase the capacity of vaccination centres in Mumbai.

The same will be implemented next week, whereby additional 25 vaccination centres will be set up with the aim of vaccinating 9,500 health workers a day.  At present, 65 vaccination centres are functioning in the city.

Updates reveal that instead of five, the BMC will set up 10 vaccination centres at KEM, Sion, Nair and Cooper Hospitals. Meanwhile, 15 vaccination centres will be set up at Jumbo COVID Center in Bandra, and more than 100 healthcare workers will be vaccinated. Planning is underway for centres at Andheri's Seven Hills Hospital, Nesco in Goregaon and Jumbo COVID Care Center in Dahisar. Information regarding the same was shared by BMC's Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani.

It is said that the beneficiaries will receive a message for vaccination on Sunday from the Covin app, however, if the message is not received, the departmental office of the corporation can also be contacted for attendance. The response to vaccination has been increasing since the introduction of the walk-in vaccine. To strengthen the same, a public awareness campaign will be launched soon at the government level to clear the misconceptions and rumours about the vaccines.
