The number of coronavirus cases in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has increased over the last few weeks, and as per the data released by the State Health Department, 282 new corona patients were found in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, September 1. The tally in the locality has reached 26,431. Besides this, seven patients have passed away due to the infection.

Currently. 3,486 patients are undergoing treatment in Navi Mumbai, and the recovery rate stands at 85 per cent. However, keeping an increasing number of cases in mind, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation along with the state government has increased the number of beds for the treatment at a few centres.

As per reports, the number has been increased from 4,358 beds to 5,358 beds, and the COVID-19 facility in Vashi has been reserved for female patients. Moreover, 1000 oxygen beds have also been arranged at Radhaswami Satsang Bhavan at Turbhe, and officials are planning to add 1300 additional beds in the next few days.

On the other hand, Vashi-based Fortis Hospital has set up a 40-bed centre and the municipal corporation will take over MGM's planned hospital at Sanpada to set up an oxygen supply systems.

As of September 1, 2020, Maharashtra has more than 8,00,000 coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, Navi Mumbai had a few cases (43 new patients were found in Belapur, 53 in Nerul, 56 in Vashi, 38 in Turbhe, 33 in Koparkhairane, 45 in Ghansoli, 11 in Airoli and 3 in Dighe).
