On Tuesday, 30 new cases were reported in the city of Mira-Bhayandar, and with this, the number of active cases in the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) area now stands at 642. This is for the first time the metropolitan satellite township has seen less than 35 cases. Earlier, a similar pattern was observed when 35 cases were reported on November 3, 2020,

However, with two persons succumbing to the virus, the overall COVID-19 fatalities now stand at 741, and with the inclusion of the 30 new positive cases, the cumulative number of cases in the area has gone up to 23,153, while 21,770 infected persons have recovered from COVID19. For the past few weeks, the region has been reporting more recoveries than positive cases.

On Tuesday, a total of 126 persons were discharged from hospitals and COVID Care Centres after recovery. According to the daily COVID19 update shared by the MBMC, 27 were new patients while the remaining three were contacts of people who had tested positive earlier.

Moreover, Mira Road had a maximum of 22 cases, followed by three cases in Bhayandar East and five in Bhayandar West. The MBMC has so far sent a total of 1,09,821 swab samples for testing of which 86,222 have turned negative while reports on 446 samples are still awaited.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, 3,791 new patients tested positive for the virus, taking the overall count to 17.27 lakh. However, the state now hosts 92,461 active cases. In the past 24 hours, the state also saw 10,769 recoveries. With this, the total number of recoveries stands at 15,88,091. The recovery rate has increased to 91.96 per cent.
