The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai is declining, and a large number of isolated suspected patients have also been released. Data reveals that so far, more than 33.7 lakh people have been discharged from different quarantine centers in Mumbai.

Earlier, COVID19 positive patients came in contact with other people and then returned to their natives, after which they had to go for self-quarantine to prevent the spread. As per the WHO and ICMR guidelines, the treatment of coronavirus suspects begins at this stage - with either institutional or home quarantine. Figures released by the concerned department show that more than a million were under the home quarantine regime suggested by the experts.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal issued a search operation recently whereby officials had to identify people who have come in contact with positive patients. These newly identified people were expected to be isolated, thereby prevent the spread of coronavirus. The team of officials acted upon the orders and the search has begun accordingly.

So far, more than 38-lakh suspected patients have been found by the BMC, out of which, more than 16.4 lakh patients were in the high-risk group and over 21.6 lakh categorised in the low-risk group. More than 33.7 lakh COVID positive patients were found in this search operation and were discharged from quarantine centers.

Besides this, officials have reported that many COVID19 positive patients were not ready to go to municipal quarantine centers. Accordingly, if the house has a separate room and toilet, the municipality had decided to allow the concerned patient to stay home quarantine for 14 days. At present, over 4.3 lakh suspected patients are under home quarantine, and in just one week, a total of 33,722 positive patients have recovered and ended their home quarantine period.

The number of COVID-19 cases is decreasing with every passing day, and the number of sealed buildings is also declining. To date, 6320 buildings have been closed due to COVID-19 and as many as 45,961 buildings have been released from the list.
