Maharashtra: 3,334 patients infected with Omicron so far

Despite a drop in the fresh Omicron cases has been reported, it has come to light that a total of 3,334 patients infected with the highly contagious variant of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra.

According to the data revealed by the state health department, out of these, 2,023 patients have been discharged following a negative RT-PCR test.

However, with this, the number of active cases infected with Omicron is 1,311 in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra on Monday, February 7, recorded 6,436 new coronavirus cases, a steep fall of 3,230 from a day ago, and 24 fresh deaths linked to the infection, while 18,423 more patients recovered from the disease, the state health department said.

Meanwhile, as per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s data, Mumbai reported a significant drop in the COVID-19 cases to 356 on Monday from 536 a day earlier, on Sunday, February 6. This is lowest since December 21, 2021.

Besides, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) registered 730 infections. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and Navi Mumbai reported 61 and 70 cases, respectively—the highest in MMR after Mumbai. While Raigad saw 43 cases, Vasai-Virar had 22 cases and Panvel had 54 cases. Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw five deaths including three in Navi Mumbai and one in Thane.
