The news regarding Coronavirus has been spreading like wildfire. According to reports, fourth person from Mumbai has been quarantined in Mumbai on suspicion of possible exposure to this deadly virus. The man in question 36 years of age and is a resident of Tardoe in South Mumbai. He is currently admit in Kasturba Hospital in the city.

According to BMC hospital the two patients that were admitted last week have tested negative for the Coronavirus but they will be kept under observation for a little longer duration and fresh tests will be done soon.

The outbreak of this Coronavirus began in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. As per BBC, the virus has killed 81 and infected nearly 8.000 people globally till now. There have been 5 confirmed cases in US. There have been no confirmed cases of this virus in India as yet.

To contain the spread of this virus, China has suspended all public transport, including flights in and out of Wuhan. The authorities are concerned that the transmission rate might accelerate as hundreds of millions of Chinese travel at home and abroad for the Lunar New Year holiday. The government has extended the New year holiday by 3 days in a bid to contain this virus.

The External Affairs Ministry has made a request to Chinese authorities for evacuation of Indians from Wuhan. The Air India flight (B747) is on standby to fly all Indians including students from Wuhan to India.

Coming back to Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has created an isolation ward at its Kasturba hospital in Chinchpokali for the treatment of people that might be impacted by this virus. The four people who are under scanner for possible exposure are admitted in this hospital.

In addition to this, all the private doctors in Mumbai have been asked to alert BMC in case they observe symptoms of the virus in anyone who has returned from China. Doctors at Kasturba Hospital have received detailed instructions from the Maharashtra government about the coronavirus and how to deal with the illness.
