In the Greater Mumbai area, 418 patients tested positive for COVID-19 according to the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). On the other hand, 360 patients recovered and were thus discharged. With this, the progressive total active patients in the city now stand at 4,810.

On Friday, October 1, six fatalities were reported, four of whom had comorbidities. Of the six deaths, three were male and three were female. Whilst two deaths occurred in the age bracket of 40 to 60, four deaths were reported over the age of 60. The total tests done were 3,9406.

The recovery rate, as well as the overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases (September 24 and September 30) in the city, continues to remain unchanged at 97 per cent and 0.06 per cent respectively. The doubling rate of Mumbai is now at 1,159 days.

A sense of respite can be gained considering that as per the containment measures taken on September 30, there are zero active containment zones in the city. The number of active sealed buildings is 46. In regards to contact tracing which has been a crucial part of the civic authority’s battle against the coronavirus, 3,642 high-risk contact tracing has been undertaken in the past 24 hours.
