Panvel reported 44 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 28,333 while 40 people have completely recovered on Monday, January 18. In total 27,339 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 619. At present, there are 375 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.

Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area are five from Panvel, five from New Panvel, seven from Khanda Colony, one from Kalamboli, five from Kamothe and 21 from Kharghar. While the recovered patients are four from Panvel, seven New Panvel, two from Kalamboli, 11 from Kamothe and 16 from Kharghar.

On Monday, January 18, Maharashtra recorded 1,924 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,92,683. Currently, there are 50,680 active cases in the state. With 3,854 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,90,323.

More than 35 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,473. While 2,21,280 persons are under home quarantine, 2,094 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.86 per cent, and 2.53 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 10,064 new cases, 17,411 recoveries and 137 deaths taking the tally up to 1,05,81,837 on Monday, January 18. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,02,28,753 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,52,556 in the country. At present, there are 2,00,528 active cases. According to the ICMR, 18,78,02,827 samples have been tested up to January 18.
