As per reports, 605 out of 806 people that underwent testing for antibodies for the coronavirus at five slums in Cuffee Parade have tested positive.

This survey was conducted between October 5 and October 10 at five locations in the ward which showed that 75 per cent of the population tested positive for antibodies which happens to be much higher than Mumbai’s civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sero-prevalence results of 45 per cent in slums and 18 per cent in buildings.

The BMC, in a release, had earlier stated that the second sero-survey disclosed that sero-prevalence of COVID-19 infection in slums is 45 per cent, compared to 57 per cent in the first sero-survey in the city. Moreover, it added that the sero-prevalence in buildings was around 18 per cent against 16 per cent in the first survey. The survey was carried out in the wards of R-north (Borivali), M-West (Mankhurd and Govandi) and F-North (Worli and Lower Parel) in the second half of August. However, the sero-prevalence among health care workers in both the rounds was approximately 27 per cent.
