Here's why the city's patients prefer being treated in private hospitals rather than in civic hospitals.
Eight of the 16 peripheral BMC hospitals are working without an official pathologist, says RTI activist Chetan Kothari.
Kothari tells Mumbai Live that these are the hospitals which don't have pathologists on their rolls -
Jyotiba Phule Hospital, Vikhroli
Veer Savarkar Hospital, Mulund (E)
M T Aggarwal Hospital, Mulund (W)
Muktabai Hospital, Ghatkopar
Shatabdi Hospital, Govandi
Savitribai Phule Hospital, Borivali
M W Desai, Malad
S K Patil Hospital, Malad
The patients are forced to seek the services of private laboratories for even basic examinations such as blood, urine, haemoglobin, malaria and stool. There is no qualified pathologist in the hospital under whose supervision tests or examinations can be carried out, alleges Kothari.
We are waiting for the civic administration to respond on this.
