More than 8.1 lab samples have been tested in Maharashtra

The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 86.48 per cent and the case fatality rate is at 2.64 per cent. Out of the total samples tested, 19.56 per cent have shown positive results for COVID19 until today.

Over the last few days, coronavirus cases in Mumbai have reduced and this has brought a sigh of relief among the government officials and the related associations. Besides this, data also a reduction in the number of tests in October, whereby 91,000 people were tested in the first few days of this month and the number has dropped to 75,000. 

Data released by the state health department revealed that only 5,984 new cases were identified on Monday, October 19, 2020, and only 46,312 tests were conducted on Sunday, October 18, 2020. The reduction in the number of cases is also because of the same. 

According to the Public Health Department, a total of 1.4 million tests were performed in the last 15 days of September 2020, however, only 1.1 million tests were conducted in the first 15 days of October. Officially, more than 8.1 million people have been tested in the state.

Officials also state that the reduction in the number is due to the rainfall experienced across nine districts of Maharashtra. Over the last few days, the monsoon has disturbed the schedule, whereby the number of covid tests in Solapur has reduced by half. Rapid antigen tests are also being conducted on people during the screening through the 'My Family My Responsibility' initiative. Meanwhile, BMC has stated that 15,000 tests were performed every day in Mumbai, in the first few days of October 2020.

The data released on Monday showed that a total of 15,069 patients were treated successfully and discharged in Maharashtra, and so far more than 1.3 million COVID-19 patients have been discharged taking the recovery rate in the state to 86.48 per cent. The case fatality rate in the state currently stands at 2.64 per cent. Out of the total samples tested, 19.56 per cent have shown positive results for COVID-19 until today. The state currently has over 2.4 people under home quarantine and over 23,000 people under institutional quarantine.
