Navi Mumbai logs 19 new COVID-19 cases; NMMC conducts over 3 lakh COVID-19 tests

19 new COVID-19 cases were found in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday while 3 have lost their lives. Recovery rate is on the rise since October and it stands at 94.96% in first week of November.

Navi Mumbai recorded 19 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday while 3 patients have died due to this disease in the last 24 hours. The total number of patients in Navi Mumbai mounts to 45,745 with these new additions.

On Wednesday, 22 new patients were found in Belapur, 8 in Nerul, 9 in Vashi, 12 in Turbhe, 14 in Koparkhairane, 12 in Ghansoli and 31 in Airoli. 133 people have been cured in a day while in Belapur 27, Nerul 28, Vashi 16, Turbhe 17, Koparkhairane 15, Ghansoli 15, Airoli 15 patients have been cured.

The total number of cured patients is 43,613. The death toll has risen to 931. At present 1,201 patients are undergoing treatment in Navi Mumbai whereas the recovery rate is 95 per cent. 

The number of COVID-19 tests has crossed 3 lakh-mark under the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) region with around 45,567 people found positive of which 95 per cent have recovered and returned home. The civic body claimed that the number of tests for COVID-19 in comparison with other cities of a similar population is quite higher. The civic body has been conducting more than 2,000 tests per day despite the number of active cases and positive cases per day have dropped. 

In the first 8 days of November, out of 17,003 tests conducted, 955 people were found COVID-19 positive. As per the tests conducted, the test-positivity rate has come down to 5.61 per cent from 15.39 per cent in September and 9.33 per cent in October.

The number of patients recovering from COVID-19 has been steadily rising since the beginning of October. By the end of September, as many as 32,325 patients or 88.14 per cent had recovered and returned home which increased to 41,803 patients or 93.90 per cent by the end of October. And, by the first week of November, a total of 43,187 or 94.96 per cent of patients already recovered.

Similarly, the rise in COVID-19 cases has also come under control and the doubling rate has increased from 79 days till September 30 to 319 days in on November 8.
