Mumbai has jabbed nearly 99% of the target population and is inching closer to a 100% mark, with most of them having received at least one dose. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is puzzled by the accurate number of citizens from Mumbai who have been actually vaccinated.

The civic administration is puzzled because a lot of beneficiaries from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and other parts of the state have taken the jabs in the city. Therefore, the number of doses given may not be equivalent to the number of Mumbai residents inoculated.

The estimated adult population in Mumbai who is eligible for vaccination is 9.2 million, and as of Tuesday, November 2, the city had administered 9.1 million first doses. Mumbai has administered 5.6 million second doses. According to the CoWin Dashboard, the city had administered 14.7 million doses altogether.

While talking to the Hindustan Times, Suresh Kakani, Additional Municipal Commissioner, said that as per rough estimations, 10% of the doses administered in Mumbai were for people outside the city.

He further said that they don't want to get into how many people from outside are inoculated but are rather aiming at vaccinating beyond the 100% mark to ensure that everyone is jabbed.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has set a target of completing 100% vaccination for the first dose in the state by November 30.
