After a year-long wait, a four-year-old heart patient Aaradhya Mule undergoes a heart transplant. Her father Yogesh Mule received a call on September 4 from parents of a 14-month-old brain dead child from Surat. The family agreed for the transplant and arrange the commercial flight which brought the heart to Juhu on September 5.

A green corridor was created to transport the heart from Juhu to Mulund's Fortis hospital in mere 18 minutes. The heart transplant surgery started at 9:00 am and was successful. Aaradhya is unconscious and has been kept under observation for the next 48 hours.

I am very happy about the heart transplant and now, I know the importance of organ donation. My wife and I will be creating awareness regarding the same. I urge people to come ahead and save children like Aaradhya by initiating organ donation, Yogesh Mule, Father.

Aaradhya Mule was diagnosed with a heart condition called Dilated Cardiomyopathy in April 2016. In this condition, the patient’s heart becomes weak and enlarges which affects the lungs, liver and other organs. The biggest challenge for doctors was to find a donor for a child who weighed under 30 kg and matches the blood group of Aaradhya, which was A-ve.
