On Thursday, March 11, Maharashtra recorded 14,317 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 22,66,374. Currently, there are 1,06,070 active cases in the state. With 7,193 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 21,06,400.

More than 57 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,667. While 4,80,083 persons are under home quarantine, 4,719 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 92.94 per cent, and 2.32 per cent respectively.

Mumbai reported 1,508 new COVID-19 cases, 911 recoveries and four deaths on Thursday, March 11, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,38,631. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 11,969 active cases and 3,14,257 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,969 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent. At present 34,96,145 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 27 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 228 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 23,285 new cases, 15,157 recoveries and 117 deaths taking the tally up to 1,13,08,846 on Thursday, March 11. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,09,53,303 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,58,306 in the country. At present, there are 1,97,237 active cases. So far, 2,61,64,920 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
