Bhandara becomes COVID-19 free

After one single patient recovered from the coronavirus on August 6, Maharashtra’s Bhandara district completely became COVID-19 free.

Moreover, no fresh cases were reported during the day. According to reports, testing and treatment along with proper planning and collective efforts have helped make Bhandara free of coronavirus after 15 months.

Meanwhile, on Friday, 578 persons were tested for coronavirus and all of them returned a negative result, the release said. In addition, district collector Sandip Kadam said that the collective efforts of the administration and cooperation of people played an important role in making Bhandara, located in eastern Maharashtra, free of the disease.

On the other hand, amidst the ongoing vaccination drive across the country, a team of researchers have found that solid organ transplant recipients, who were vaccinated, experienced about 80 per cent reduction in symptomatic COVID-19 compared to those who have not received any dose.

Furthermore, clinical data were examined from the UC San Diego Health transplant registry from January 1, 2021, to June 2, this year. Moreover, the journal stated that a sample of 2,151 solid organ transplant recipients was taken. Out of 2,151 patients, 912 were fully vaccinated, 88 were taken the first dose while 1151 were unvaccinated. According to the data, about 70 per cent of the vaccinated patients received the mRNA-1273 vaccine (Moderna).
