On September 24, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Health Department conducted a health seminar to teach about providing vaccinations for some diseases. The seminar was specially held to teach the staff about vaccinations for measles and rubella. While the seminar consisted of Marathi-speaking people, the entire teaching was shockingly provided in the Gujarati language.

On Monday, the teachers were about to receive vaccinations for measles and rubella so that they do not get infected with the disease. The programme was held at Hindu Colony and several Marathi-speaking teachers were invited. However, throughout the entire seminar, the information provided was given in Gujarati instead of English, Hindi, or Marathi. This incident has caused people to question the municipal corporation’s administration.

BMC’s several teachers were taught about vaccinations for measles and rubella in a seminar organised by the municipal corporation. However, the training was provided to the teachers in Gujarati despite the majority of teachers being Marathi-speaking people. If you are so inclined to give the training in Gujarati, then head off to Gujarat. Maharashtra’s people speak Marathi and so Marathi must be used for any such purpose. A complaint will be lodged by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) regarding this matter,” said MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande.
