Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena MLA, recently took to Twitter to inform that the BMC is all geared up to do a pilot of AI-based detection test using voice samples for the coronavirus.
.@mybmc will do a pilot of AI-based COVID-19 detection test using voice samples. Of course, regular RT-PCR test will follow but the globally tested technique proves that the pandemic has helped us see things differently & spruce up use of tech in our health infrastructure. pic.twitter.com/LMFthVhXXk

Thackeray added that the regular RT-PCR tests are to continue, along with this, the new age technology is being introduced in order to detect COVID-19 patients.
Moreover, he shared infographics of the same which stated that the pilot project will start at the Nesco grounds, in Goregaon. The steps to test an individual are as follows.
The app is also said to come preloaded with thousands of voice patterns in order to provide results.
On the other hand, the BMC has been religiously conducting RT-PCR tests across the city which has been providing accurate results. The RT-PCR test starts with a simple swab taken from inside a person’s throat or nose. The RT-PCR tests are real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests conducted for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2 in upper and lower respiratory specimens.
