Mumbai - BMC has devised a smart technique to keep a track on the bio-medical equipment in different civic-run hospitals, by fixing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags to appliances. RFID will help the civic body in tagging the equipment, as per a release issued by the municipal corporation. The civic-run hospitals have bio-medical electronic equipment like ultrasound, X-ray, scanning machines, MRI equipment, anesthesia appliances, doppler machines and ECG in large numbers. RFID uses small radio frequency for tracking devices. Almost 15,000 bio-medical equipment will be tagged. This tagging will help in gaining the much sought after information regarding the products which includes - the name of the product, expiry date, manufacturing date, model number and the price.
