The state government of Maharashtra and respective municipal corporations, over the last few weeks, have been trying to control coronavirus spread with vaccination drive. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporations (BMC) and other civic bodies in the neighbouring districts have been conducting the drive successfully, and as per reports, the COVID-19 vaccine will now be administered at seven of the 11 private centres in Navi Mumbai. This was implemented on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
Earlier, the vaccination drive was being conducted only at three centres of the municipality, which was causing inconvenience both to the civic body and the senior citizens. However, this decision is expected to change the same.
Currently, the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive is underway and this was started on March 1, 2021. The vaccination program was started only at three selected centres in Navi Mumbai, but the same, now being given at seven private centres, will bring relief to the citizens.
Data suggests that a total of 264 people were vaccinated on Wednesday at the vaccination centres organised by the local government. A total of 528 people have been vaccinated so far and this only includes those who are registered on the online app. Citizens who are not registered will not be vaccinated, and the message has been shared by the municipal administration.
On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, the municipality had offered training to health workers in 11 private hospitals, and on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, seven of them were given permission for the vaccination drive, after the process was completed. Four other hospitals have not yet completed the required procedure.
