Complete lockdown imposed in Palghar as cases the city cross 5,000-mark

As of August 11, 182 new coronavirus cases were identified in Palghar city, taking the total to 5,033 cases. Palghar district has a total of 19,049 cases out of which 5333 cases are active.

Coronavirus cases in Palghar district have seen an increase over the few days, and observing this, the local municipal corporation has decided to implement a strict lockdown in Palghar city and nearby areas. The complete 5-day lockdown has been imposed from August 14 to August 18, 2020, with an aim to curb the growing number of corona cases.

During this period, all shops and vegetable markets in the city, including groceries, will be closed. However, as per protocol Drug stores, hospitals and emergency services have been excluded from the lockdown. The decision was announced by district collector Kailash Shinde

As per guidelines issued by the district collector, only essential services will be allowed to refuel the vehicles at petrol pumps. Banks in the city will also continue in the lockdown, and the process for customers will be held following a token system.

As of August 11, 2020, 182 new coronavirus cases were identified in Palghar city, taking the total to 5,033 cases. Palghar district has a total of 19,049 cases out of which 29 per cent, i.e., 5333 cases are active. A total of 441 deaths have been reported so far from the district.

Besides this, four deaths were reported and the tally has increased to 72. Maharashtra has a total of 5,35,601 cases out of which 3,68,435 have recovered.
