Maharashtra Records highest 24-hour toll

As per the state health department, at least 6,165 patients recovered on Wednesday across the state. The state-wide number of recoveries have now reached 3,05,521.

Maharashtra recorded 10,309 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total case tally to 4,68,265 in the state. In the last 24 hours, 334 people succumbed to the virus and the fatality toll of the state has now reached 16,476.  The toll recorded on Wednesday was the highest recorded by the state in the 24-hour span. 

As per the state health department, at least 6,165 patients recovered on Wednesday across the state. The state-wide number of recoveries have now reached 3,05,521. Along with this, there are about 1,45,961 active coronavirus cases in the state.

Mumbai reported 1,125 cases on Wednesday, taking the total caseload to 1,19,255 in the city. With 42 new deaths, the total number of fatalities has reached 6,588. As per the data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 711 recovered patients were discharged in the last 24 hours in the city. The data suggests that the recoveries have gone up to 91,673 and there are 20,697 active cases across the city.  

On Wednesday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reported 1,282 new coronavirus cases, taking the total caseload of the city to 65,136. Since the number of cases have suddenly surged in Pune in the last month, the city is falling short of hospital beds. The civic body is working hard to manage hospital beds for more critical patients in the city. As per media reports, most of the infected patients have chosen home isolation over getting admitted to hospitals or COVID-19 Care Centres (CCC) in Pune.

With the prevalence of coronavirus increasing day by day in the state, over 10,000 Maharashtra Police personnel have been infected so far. Out of them, 107 including 10 officers have succumbed to the deadly virus. It has been reported that over 50 per cent of the fatalities were from the Mumbai Police force.

Meanwhile, India reported 52,509 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. This took the country’s total tally to over 19,08,255. With 857 deaths, the total fatality toll has gone up to 39,795 in the country.  As per the Union Health Ministry, there are currently 5,86,244 active patients and 12,82,216 recoveries across the nation.
