Mumbai Records 862 New COVID-19 Cases, Death Toll Reaches 6,690

There are currently 20,143 active coronavirus cases across the city and about 93,897 patients have recovered so far.

Mumbai recorded 862 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the caseload to 1,21,027 in total. With 45 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the fatality toll has gone up to 6,690. According to the data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), about 1,236 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, and the recoveries have gone up to 93,897. There are currently 20,143 active coronavirus cases across the city. 

On Friday, Dharavi reported seven new coronavirus cases, taking the total tally to 2,604 in the slum-clustered area. As per the BMC, there are only 80 active cases in Dharavi and 2,266 patients have recovered from the deadly virus so far. However, the civic body has stopped revealing the number of deaths in the area. 

The nearby areas of Dadar and Mahim have witnessed a sudden surge since last month. Dadar reported 21 new cases on Friday which took the total tally to 1,963. There are around 457 active cases in Dadar and a total of 1,422 patients have been recovered so far. It's neighbouring area of Mahim has recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 1,819 in the area. Currently, there are 258 active cases in Mahim and 1,487 patients have been cured and discharged. 

Meanwhile, Maharashtra's total caseload has reached 4,90,262 and the death toll has gone up to 17,092, as per the state health department. So far, 3,27,281 coronavirus patients have recovered and currently there are 1,45,582 active cases across the state.
