Coronavirus scare: 16 people tested positive so far in the state

Two teachers from Khed, Maharashtra who had recently been to Nepal have been tested positive for coronavirus. This takes the total number of infected in the state to 16. These two teachers were a part of a 50-member group that had recently visited Nepal. So far, none of the other teachers has been tested positive. 

Earlier, two patients admitted at a Mumbai Hospital were tested positive for Coronavirus. Thes two individuals had travelled to Dubai along with the Pune-couple that tested positive. After the Mumbai couple tested positive, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had tested all their relatives and other contacts. All the relatives and contacts have been tested negative. 

With the number of patients is on a rise, the government is trying to take all necessary measures to ensure safety and health. In fact, officials have issued notices to avoid crowding in schools, colleges and public areas until March 25, 2020. Moreover, the centre has announced that all the visas have also been cancelled. 

Reports also state that three suspects of coronavirus have been found in Thane, though no symptoms have been detected yet. But as a precaution, these people have been asked to stay at home for 14 days to ensure safety.

In view of the increasing number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra, the Thane District Administration has implemented a 'Disaster Management Law' to deal with any situation. The authorities said that Thane is adjacent to Mumbai and hence many tourists also visit the localities. Hence, immediate measures were needed to prevent the virus from spreading.

The virus has also impacted sports events across the nation as gatherings at these events might result in the spread of the novel virus. Reportedly, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held behind closed doors in Maharashtra whereas has been banned in Delhi.
