The Panvel Municipal Corporation decided to demolish this building and construct a new building for the hospital after the transfer of Corona Epidemic Hospital from Samaj Mandir building by CIDCO Board to Sector 5E in Kalamboli Colony.
Construction of the building is expected to cost around INR 7 to 8 crores and medical equipment of this hospital is expected to cost around INR 20 crores. Panvel Municipal Corporation is going to start the first 50-bed Infectious Disease Hospital at Kalamboli at a cost of INR 27 crores.
The Samaj Mandir was planned by the CIDCO Board on 15 gunta area at the main square in Sector 5E in Kalamboli Colony. More than 30 years after the construction of this three-storied building, the plaster of the roof of this building started falling off.
During the Corona Pandemic period, the CIDCO Board repaired the same Samaj Mandir building and started a 58-bed Corona Pandemic Hospital. After the corona epidemic, this building of Samajmandir was transferred to the municipality so that the building could be used by the health department of Panvel Municipal Corporation.
